The European policy promotes the expansion of the LNG retail network , and thereby the supply of this fuel, especially on long distance tours would be guaranteed by 2030 across the EU-. Natural gas vehicles represent the fastest and most effective way to reduce harmful emissions caused by transportation. Through “Connecting Europe Facility” programme (CEF) in the company Butan Gas, LNG filling system with was established in Slovenia and Croatia.

Lack of adequate infrastructure or filling spaces is the main reason that obstructs the current development of European LNG market. Therefore, –it is essential to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) and filling stations more accessible for end users in Slovenia and Croatia.

A study and pilot actions will be designed for the use of alternative fuels and such infrastructure in the territory IX. Mediterranean Core Network Corridor, on the road section Trieste/Koper–Ljubljana–Budapest and Ljubljana/Rijeka–Zagreb–Budapest.
